US Constitutional Body Autonomy Amendment

Erlkönig: US Constitutional Body Autonomy Amendment

[Warning: this isn't even a draft, it's a brain dump]

There needs to be some kind of Body Autonomy amendment that rolls together the general rights to be free to ab/use your own body however you want, assuming you're not out making others miserable in the process. One amendment to support the rights to

  • evict non-paying squatters from your body (ideally without having to serve a notice 30 days in advance)
  • tattooing
  • sex change, to either binary, something in between, or some new thing with fuzzy ears
  • free to smoke - but not just anywhere in public
  • use of alcohol, drugs, vitamins, stupid homeopathic stuff, humming crystal yoni balls, whatever
  • long hair, beards, landing strips, nudity in designated areas
  • wearing religious symbols - though not necessarily in a role where you represent a company
  • partaking in porn, or essentially any kind of free speech, especially as a consumer
  • etc, etc.

There are SO MANY potential things that people would like to protect the right to choose for themselves, freely in private in particular, where the only issue is what restrictions should apply in public settings. Those restrictions should definitely exist, since your freedom of expression isn't so free if you're supposed to be representing an organization, the country, other people, etc. For example:

  • no public abortions, I'm not going to put up with it, get a room
  • no tattooing if the sound is bugging others
  • you can be what sex you want, but if you ever had a Y chromosome or equivalent, you're banned from women's sports. And i'm not going support you using that other restroom unless you "pass" - I support sex change, but not bearded 200# men in skirts trying to urinate standing in the women's room
  • if you consented to the drugs while sober, you're reasonable for what you do under their effects, with protections if someone agreed to look out for you
  • saying you can take weird extracts and scarf down crystal chakra cleaner does not mean the FDA isn't going to rip the vendors a new one for lying about the potential effects
  • long hair and beards should be clean and tidy, or even hidden in roles around health care, food service, etc - permission to have it doesn't mean one should violate important constraints
  • wearing identity symbols if you're in a representational role could harm the one being represented, and similar things apply to role models - various professions like teaching, law, medical, police, etc, etc, could reasonably ask staff to be circumspect while at work - but banned from passing judgement on what you're wearing away from work.

We need an amendment from which all of this would logically follow. Something everyone could support for their own, possibly weird specific reasons.
