Erlkönig: charcoal-briquettes.shtml[collected 2002-08-29 00:10:59 CDT (Aug Thu) 1030597859] Purdue University Professor George Goble now has the all time record for successfully preparing a bed of glowing charcoal briquettes for cooking. Three seconds!!! Prof. Goble dumped about 40 pounds of charcoal briquettes into a free standing steel park grill and poured three gallons of liquid oxygen on the charcoal. Ignition was provided remotely by wires running to a car battery. After the ensuing fireball subsided he was left with three pounds of perfectly glowing charcoal. He repeated his process with a standard "drug store" type grill and was left with a bed of glowing charcoal embedded in glowing, molten metal. |
